Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 Reiew-As is well known, Dell hasn't entered the Alienware line of gaming laptops for a long time in the last few decades. Most likely, this was because at that time, the traction of the gaming laptop business on the market was still not very good.

But, at the end of 2021, Dell finally brought Alienware laptops back to Indonesia. In total there are four variants of Alienware gaming laptops, two laptops using Intel processors and two other laptops using processors from AMD.

On this occasion, we will review the Alienware M15 Ryzen Edition R5. Even though there are R5 frills on this laptop, it doesn't mean this laptop uses a Ryzen 5 processor, but rather uses a Ryzen 7 processor.

Before discussing its performance, it's a good idea to first discuss the design of this gaming laptop. Because, in our opinion, the design of this gaming laptop is different from the others.

Unlike other gaming laptops, this laptop seems more rounded. This is because the back of this laptop, which is a wind exhaust, has a rounded shape.

The screen hinge is not directly on the back of the laptop, but is about four or five centimeters from the rear body. The hinge is also sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the screen at various viewing angles.

For the screen scheme, they have two colors for this laptop. The outside of this laptop has a dark gray color while the inside has a black color. They call it the dark side of the moon. In our opinion, this color combination makes the Alienware M15 Ryzen Edition R5 look classy.

On the cover of the screen, there is an alien head logo that they have been using since the brand was created. The logo also has a user-adjustable LED light.

In addition to the screen cover, this logo is also visible on the inside of the body, which also functions as the power button. Just like on the outside, this logo also has an LED that will light up when the laptop is on.

Minimalist impression is also seen in all parts of this laptop, because there are not too many emblems on this laptop. We will only see the M15 writing that is disguised on the screen cover and alienware writing on the bottom bezel of the screen.

This laptop also comes with quite a lot of ventilation holes. At the top of the keyboard there is a fairly large vent that functions as an intake. At the bottom there is also a large vent and has the same function.

As for the drain hole, there are four holes prepared in this laptop. There are two drain holes on the back and one drain hole each on the left and right.

Dell uses a fairly good cooling system, with the presence of two fans that are claimed to be 10 percent better than its predecessor. In addition, there are also several large heat pipes that can anticipate heat from the CPU and GPU.

For ports, on the left there are 2 USB 3.2 gen 1 type A while on the right there is 1 2.5Gbps LAN port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

And on the back there is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A port, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a charging port. And uniquely, at the end of the charger there is an LED that glows when connected to electricity.

For the screen, Dell carries a 15.6-inch screen with QHD resolution. The panel uses an IPS panel with a refresh rate of 240hz with a response time of 2ms. That's it, this monitor also supports NVIDIA G-Sync.

But, the funny thing is, this laptop also supports AMD Freesync technology. This you can access when using the integrated graphics on the AMD Ryzen processor on this laptop.

For a gaming laptop, the screen bezel of the alienware M15 Ryzen edition R5 is quite thin on the left, right, and top sides. While at the bottom there is a large bezel. Dell has also pinned a camera on the top bezel which also has infrared scanner technology to activate the Windows Hello Face feature.

As for the camera itself, we were a little disappointed. Because, even in bright enough light, the quality of the video capture tends to be darker. the camera has a resolution of 0.9mp with maximum video recording at 720p.
