Panasonic LX100 II Review and Specs

After nearly four years, this week Panasonic finally introduced the second generation of its high-end pocket camera, the Lumix LX100. Full name Lumix DC-LX100 II, a camera that looks similar to its predecessor is now carrying a new micro four-thirds sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels, the same as the sensor embedded in Lumix GX9 mirrorless cameras. However, the maximum resolution is limited to 17 megapixels because Panasonic applies a multi-aspect ratio mechanism (4: 3, 3: 2, 16: 9) with image cropping techniques for the LX100 II. The same multi-aspect ratio mechanism is also applied in the first generation Lumix LX100 so it only has an effective resolution of 12 megapixels, from a 16 megapixel resolution sensor.

Features

17 MP [4:3 aspect] high-sensitivity multi-aspect four thirds MOS sensor. 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 1:1 multi-aspect modes taken from 21.77 megapixel total count*.
Leica DC 24-75mm lens [F1.7-2.8], with POWER O.I.S. [Optical Image Stabilizer]
24p / 30p 4K video and exclusive 4K PHOTO modes plus focus stacking.
Electronic Viewfinder EVF [2,764k-dot], and large 3-inch touch sensitive monitor [1240k-dot]

The LX100 II lens section does not change from the previous model, still relies on a zoom unit with a focal length of 24-75mm (full-frame equivalent) and aperture range f / 1.7-2.8. A lens with five aspherical elements and two ED elements that have been proven to be of high quality have a minimum focal distance of 3cm and leaf shutter. The top and back view of the Lumix LX100 II (Panasonic) The outer appearance of the LX100 II itself is almost exactly the same as the first GeForration LX100, with the addition of several custom buttons and the grip part is more tight.

Panasonic retains various manual adjustment knobs on the LX100 II, including a dial to select shutter speed and exposure compensation. The electronic viewfinder also does not change with a 2.76 megapixel resolution (sequential field). However, the 3-inch (1.24 megapixel) LCD screen on the back of the LX100 II now supports touch input to facilitate operation. Panasonic also enlarged the LX100 II buffer so that it can accommodate 33 RAW images, with a burst rate of 11 FPS or 5.5 FPS with continuous AF. There is also the ability to charge the camera battery with a USB connector that is plugged directly into the body. Lumix LX100 II is planned to be marketed in October with a tag of 999 US dollars, including a small external flash unit.
